Due to successful growth, change and transformation within the business, a global food service distributor are seeking to appoint a Private Label Manager to lead and grow their Private Label business within the Trading Department across Ambient and Chilled categories.

The role holder will possess a strong understanding and acute experience in growing out a Private Label brand and business unit, a proven ability to deliver a hybrid business offering – value to customers whilst delivering commercially to the bottom line within the Retail and Cash & Carry business.

External and Internal stakeholder partnerships and engagement is a strategic skillset necessary in the success of this role in order for the Private Label Manager to retain existing relationships, influence and gain credibility with key partners and grow out new lines of the portfolio- resulting in additional revenue streams. Understanding of the category and buying channels in order to negotiate and agree terms of business and engagement with suppliers.

Maintaining business rhythm through engaging actively with the existing internal business network, ensuring all commercial targets are consistently achieved, retention of existing customers and acquisition of new customers are a constant daily trajectory. The appointee will be a highly target driven, technical and resilient leader. Supporting the growth strategy, sustainability, process, change and transformation across all lines of business within the organisation, thus maintaining continued growth for all markets- but not limited to either.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Achieving budgeted LTA, Marketing, and all other forms of buying income in relation to Private Label

  • Delivery of the sales and distribution targets of the Private Label products including Private Label House Brands across retail and wholesale.

  • Development of agreed partnership agendas with ‘Preferred Supplier Partners’

  • Working closely with the Category Trading managers on sourcing Private Label suppliers and product ranges for both retail and wholesale

  • Working closely with the Category Trading managers on managing and developing Private Label promotions for both retail and wholesale

  • Working cross functionally with relevant stakeholders to drive the overall company Private Label agenda

  • Management, Maintenance and Development of pricing strategies

  • Identifying new opportunities and suppliers for profitable sales development

  • Regular retailer visits with the objective of identifying business opportunities and developing sales


  • Highly driven individuals with exceptional communication and negotiation skills

  • At least 7 years buying experience in the FMCG environment.
