ROLE OVERVIEW

As part of the Procurement function, the Key Account Manager plays a pivotal

commercial role within the International Wholesale Division. Working closely with the

Ethical / Medicines Purchasing team, the role drives profitable growth through strategic

pricing, detailed sales analysis, and proactive account management.


REPORTING TO: Director of International Wholesale Division


The Key Account Manager holds direct commercial ownership for assigned customer

accounts, with responsibility for sales revenue, gross profit, margin performance, and the

delivery of monthly and annual sales targets. The role is accountable for developing and

executing account plans and growth strategies, identifying new product opportunities,

and optimising pricing to maximise profitability.


In addition to day-to-day account management, the role supports senior leadership by

providing meaningful commercial insight, highlighting risks and opportunities, and

contributing to strategic decision-making. This is a varied, fast-paced role in a

collaborative environment, focused on sustainable growth, margin improvement, and

long-term customer value


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the main point of contact between assigned customers and the company.

  • Hold commercial ownership for assigned customer accounts, including

  • responsibility for sales revenue, gross profit, margins and sales target delivery.

  • Develop and sustain solid relationships with assigned customers.

  • Develop and maintain account plans and growth strategies to support retention, expansion and long-term commercial value.

  • Prepare and lead the compilation of Quotations and Tenders, ensuring commercial viability and margin protection.

  • Address and resolve all customer queries and complaints.

  • Enter and record enquiries and offers onto the system in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Use available information (licences, market intelligence, IQVIA etc.) to identify new line and sales growth opportunities for assigned customers.

  • Monitor account performance against monthly and annual targets and take appropriate corrective or growth-driving actions where required.

  • Work with the warehouse for clarification and adjustments of SO’s, customer collections, packing requirements etc.

  • Keep the Team Lead informed of any commercially sensitive issues (demand changes, price changes, market changes etc.) impacting revenue, margin or forecast performance that they will need to feedback to the Director of International Wholesale and/or Chief Procurement Officer.

  • Liaise with other internal department (e.g. finance, warehouse, IT, regulatory) to ensure commercial and operational requirements are met.

  • Understand freight options, rates, and terms and conditions.

  • Employ pricing strategies that meet the business’ standards, policies and procedures while supporting revenue and margin objectives.

  • Participate in and prepare for meetings, including presenting account performance, sales results and growth plans where required.

  • Support training for new team member(s).

  • Attend Trade Shows as needed in order to identify and recruit new customers and

  • support sales growth objectives.

  • Visit assigned customers as needed to ensure retention and account growth where possible.


ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical or healthcare environment

  • Demonstrated commercial awareness with strong business acumen

  • Experience working with sales targets, pricing, or margin management

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting or financial analysis

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint


DESIRABLE CRITERA

  • Third-level qualification in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Science, or a related discipline

  • Experience in pharmaceutical wholesale or international trading environments

  • Exposure to account management or customer-facing commercial roles

  • Knowledge of market intelligence tools (e.g. IQVIA)

  • Understanding of supply chain, logistics, or freight processes
