CATEGORY MANAGER | RETAIL PHARMACY | DUBLIN HYBRID

One of Ireland's leading pharmacy services businesses is looking to appoint a Category Manager -OTC. The role holder will own the commercial performance and development of the OTC category within the Pharmacy Retail business -sales, margin, commercial income, range, pricing and promotional activity.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Category Manager is the lead commercial point of contact for all suppliers in the category, accountable for delivering the category's income, margin and growth commitments, and responsible for the range, pricing and promotional decisions, supplier relationships and commercial insight that underpin category performance for the Group and its pharmacy customers.

Category sales, margin and commercial income delivered to or ahead of target, with OTC category growth outperforming the market
Supplier relationships and annual trading terms actively managed -agreed commercial commitments delivered, the monthly review cycle running consistently, and procurement savings identified and banked
OTC range commercially competitive and well managed -range reviews completed to cycle, new product and supplier opportunities landed, rationalisation decisions evidenced, and planograms optimised for sales and margin
Pricing and promotional strategy delivering measurable return -supplier funding secured, plans delivered with Marketing on time, and post-activity evaluation consistently acted on
AI tools embedded into daily workflow, with demonstrable time and quality benefit across supplier analysis, reporting and commercial decision-making -and visible contribution to AI use cases shared with the wider Commercial team
Category reporting and insight trusted across the business -weekly and periodic reporting delivered reliably, forecasting accurate, and data consistently converted into commercial action
Recognised internally as a credible, commercially sharp Category Manager-taking on increasingly complex commercial situations, with constructive working relationships across the Commercial function and wider business
Person Specification
Essential Experience & Qualifications
A minimum 5 years of progressive buying, procurement or commercial experience -including direct experience of owning supplier relationships and commercial outcomes for a portfolio
Proven track record of delivering rebate, margin or commercial income targets in a B2C, retail, wholesale, or pharmacy-services environment
Strong commercial acumen, with the analytical capability to interpret supplier data, market trends and pricing dynamics, and translate them into commercial decisions
Proven track record of negotiating pricing, rebates, annual trading terms and commercial agreements with suppliers
Demonstrable experience of owning a category end-to-end -range, pricing, promotions and supplier performance
Third-level qualification in business, commerce, supply chain, science, pharmacy, or a related discipline
Technical Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret category, market and supplier data and turn insight into commercial action
Advanced Excel skills -lookups, pivots, large-dataset analysis and scenario modelling
Familiarity with using and reviewing Power BI or equivalent BI tools for category, supplier and promotional reporting Category and range review methodology -SKU performance analysis, range rationalisation and commercial planogram input
Promotional planning and evaluation -securing funding, forecasting activity and reviewing post promotion performances-orientated and motivated by targets, with the resilience to navigate setbacks in supplier negations'
Desirable
Direct experience of OTC or healthcare categories
Experience of joint business planning with major branded suppliers
Experience working with a fast-growing business
