
Prism Executive have partnered with a global foodservice business to appoint a Head of Commercial to lead and grow their Ambient and Alcohol categories. The role holder will possess a strong understanding and acute experience in growing out a business unit, a proven ability to deliver a hybrid business offering – whilst delivering commercially to the bottom line within the Ambient and Alcohol categories
External and Internal stakeholder partnerships and engagement is a strategic skillset necessary in the success of this role along with retaining existing relationships, influence and gain credibility with key partners and grow out new lines of the portfolio- resulting in additional revenue streams. Understanding of the category and buying channels in order to negotiate and agree terms of business and engagement with suppliers.
Maintaining business rhythm through engaging actively with the existing internal business network, ensuring all commercial targets are consistently achieved, retention of existing customers and acquisition of new customers are a constant daily trajectory. The appointee will be a highly target driven, technical and resilient leader. Supporting the growth strategy, sustainability, process, change and transformation across all lines of business within the organisation, thus maintaining continued growth for all markets- but not limited to either.
Duties and Responsibilities
Achieving budgeted LTA, Marketing and all other forms of buying income
Delivery of the sales and margin budgets for the central billing business units
Maintaining and improving group terms and conditions in line with overall group policy and strategy, including negotiating and agreeing purchasing terms and conditions with suppliers
Development of agreed partnership agendas with ‘Preferred Supplier Partners’
Managing and developing a specific portfolio of suppliers and brands
Managing a portfolio of brands including product range and selection, introducing new brands and de-listing existing suppliers or brands as market conditions demand
Maintaining and improving retailer gross margins and ensuring that the retailer price file is maintained, reviewed and updated
Maintaining the profile of the Retailer Benefit Programme within the alcohol supplier base, and ongoing negotiations with suppliers in this regard
Identifying new opportunities and suppliers for profitable sales development
Sourcing and agreeing products for retail and wholesale promotions
Meeting customer and sales requirements in terms of range, pricing, presentation and promotions
Development of the exclusive agency wine portfolio for retail and wholesale brands
Regular retailer visits with the objective of identifying business opportunities and developing sales
Ensuring the commercial and sales teams appropriately manage any regulatory, legislative and or revenue changes as they arise
Co-operating, working with and supporting other members of the commercial and replenishment teams to ensure that the overall division operates as an effective and efficient unit.
Experience
Highly driven individuals with exceptional communication and negotiation skills
At least 7 years buying experience in the FMCG environment.
