Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance \ Fleet Operations Manager with a strong mechanical background to oversee the daily maintenance in a workshop and yard operations environment.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient maintenance, repair, and servicing of fleet and plant equipment while maintaining high standards of safety, cost control, and operational performance.
The successful candidate will work closely with our wider operations team to ensure fleet availability and operational continuity across the business.

Key Responsibilities
Workshop & Fleet Management
Supervise and coordinate workload
Allocate tasks efficiently to meet operational deadlines.
Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are adhered to.
Monitor quality and ensure industry best practices are followed.
Oversee equipment servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and compliance checks.
Team Leadership & HR Support
Lead, motivate, and develop staff.
Conduct performance reviews in conjunction with HR.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
Promote a positive and safety-first culture within operations .
Manage staff attendance, performance, and productivity.
Operational Collaboration
Work closely with the operations team to align workshop output with yard requirements.
Liaise daily with operations to prioritise fleet readiness.
Support breakdown response planning and fleet downtime reduction strategies.
Develop and maintain an after-hours on-call support schedules to ensure timely response to maintenance and breakdowns.
Financial & Administrative Oversight.
Maintain accurate records of all servicing, repairs, and parts usage.
Monitor budgets and control costs.
Oversee supplier relationships and negotiate where appropriate.
Approve purchase orders and manage parts procurement.
Ensure accurate invoicing records are maintained and submitted to Finance.
Provide cost reports and operational updates to senior management.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Work in partnership with the Health & Safety Officer to ensure full compliance with Irish legislation.
Conduct risk assessments and enforce safe systems of work.
Ensure daily operations comply with company policies and regulatory standards.
Maintain inspection and compliance documentation.
Key Requirements
Essential:
Mechanical qualification
Proven experience managing a workshop or maintenance facility.
Strong leadership and team management experience.
Experience in fleet, plant, HGV, or heavy equipment maintenance.
Solid understanding of budgeting and cost control.
Strong supplier management experience.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Strong administrative and record-keeping ability
