A global Irish owned manufacturing organisation are looking to appoint a Financial Controller to join their senior Finance team in Ireland and be an active member of their global senior leadership team. The successful appointee will report to the Global VP of Finance and collaborate with effectiveness in cultivating a robust growth strategy and paced scaling of the business across all markets.
This role has end-to-end responsibility for financial control, governance and the integrity of financial reporting across the Group, ensuring a robust control framework, disciplined close process, and high-quality insight to drive business decisions. The Financial Controller will combine hands-on delivery with leadership—rolling up their sleeves to solve issues at source, driving process improvement and continuous optimisation of SAP and supporting systems, and leading transformation within the finance team.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
Own end-to-end controllership across AR, AP, Payroll and General Ledger, ensuring accurate accounting, disciplined execution and appropriate segregation of duties.
Lead a high-quality, efficient month-end close, producing timely and accurate P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow reporting (actuals, flash and management packs).
Prepare and publish flash results and full monthly results, including all intercompany and transfer pricing adjustments, with clear variance analysis and commentary for senior stakeholders.
Own balance sheet governance: ensure robust reconciliations, controls and review across key accounts, including intercompany transactions across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
Own and continuously improve the Group financial controls framework, including end-to-end internal control design and ownership
Act as Finance control owner: maintain an annual controls and compliance calendar, coordinate control owners across AR/AP/Payroll/R2R, ensure timely completion of key controls (including segregation of duties and access controls), and support internal/external audit requests with robust, standardised evidence.
Lead periodic forecasting and reforecasting of key cost lines and headcount, providing analysis and recommendations that influence business decisions and resource allocation.
Develop and enhance internal and external reporting (regional P&Ls, cost centre and project performance), translating data into actionable insight for leadership.
Lead external audit delivery end-to-end, including audit planning, technical accounting assessments and financial statements.
Oversee tax compliance and governance across multiple jurisdictions (with internal/external advisors as required), ensuring accuracy, timeliness and appropriate documentation.
Act as a trusted finance business partner to the VP Global Finance, CFO and senior stakeholders, bringing clarity to performance, risks and opportunities.
Own the month-end timetable and cross-functional inputs, ensuring other functions understand their responsibilities and deliver accurate information on time.
Take a lead role in the ongoing optimisation of SAP and finance systems, process design, master data, controls, reporting and automation), partnering with IT and the business to improve data quality and efficiency.
Experience and Qualifications:
Qualified Accountant – CIMA/ACCA/ICAI or equivalent
Minimum of 8–10+ years’ post-qualification experience, including a significant period in a Financial Controller / Senior Finance Manager role within a complex, fast-paced environment (FMCG an advantage).
Ability to see the big picture while focusing on the process and procedures necessary to produce deliverables
Strong systems capability: advanced Excel plus demonstrable experience optimising an ERP (SAP preferred) and improving reporting/automation.
Corporate accounting experience, including overheads and payroll
Demonstrable experience owning internal controls and financial governance (e.g., controls testing, audit evidence, policy design, risk assessment and remediation).
Experience in forecasting and budgeting
Proven track record of leading process improvement and control enhancements, with clear examples of measurable impact (e.g., faster close, improved accuracy, reduced risk, better insight).
Strong ERP experience (SAP preferred), including end-to-end process understanding across Record-to-Report; able to translate business needs into system/process improvements.
Advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills a significant advantage
