Our client is a leading, family-owned contract cleaning and facilities services business operating nationally across Ireland, employing over 2,000 staff. Due to its growth and scale, we are looking to appoint a Chief Operating Officer (COO) into the business. All Heads of Department and senior operational leaders will report into the COO.


Role Overview

  • The Chief Operating Officer will be the CEO’s principal execution partner and will have full accountability for business performance, including:

  • Operational delivery across healthcare and non-healthcare portfolios

  • Commercial outcomes (pipeline discipline, bid quality, pricing and margin protection)

  • P&L delivery

  • Mobilisation of new contracts and major changes

  • Cross functional integration (Operations, Commercial, Corporate Services, HSQE)


The role exists to ensure:

  • One integrated way of operating across the business

  • Strong grip on performance, cost, productivity, and margin

  • High quality, predictable mobilisations

  • Robust governance—particularly in healthcare environments

Essential Experience

  • Senior executive leadership experience (CBO, COO, Operations Director, Managing Director or equivalent).

  • Track record in multi-site, labour intensive services organisations (e.g. facilities management, contract cleaning, outsourced services, healthcare services).

  • Clear evidence of having owned both operational delivery and commercial outcomes.

  • Proven P&L responsibility at material scale.

  • Experience operating in regulated, compliance heavy environments (healthcare strongly preferred).

  • Leadership of organisations with 1,000+ employees.

  • Commercial judgement: understands pricing, margin drivers, bid risk, and client value.

  • Operational discipline: systematises delivery without creating bureaucracy.

  • Integrator mindset: aligns multiple functions behind shared performance outcomes.

  • Leadership presence: credible with frontline managers, senior leaders, and major clients.

  • Decision making under pressure: pragmatic, evidence based, accountable.
