Due to rapid pace of growth within Group, Prism Executive have been retained by a Global Wholesale Electrical Distribution client to appoint a Transport Specialist to their new Distribution Centre.

This position will report into the Head of Distribution and will direct and lead all aspects of transportation associated with the Distribution Centre and Branch networks.

This role will have responsibility to control and ensure efficient, compliant, and cost-effective transportation standards which support all Group transport strategic directives, that strives for best-in-class service and allows for a competitive advantage within the industry.

  • Provide expertise in transportation management while leveraging the Group global Distribution & Logistics resource and strategic direction to deliver best value for Ireland in service and cost.

  • Select best in class transportation partners and support local selection where applicable.

  • Lead RFQs and negotiations for road freight rates for the Irish business.

  • Partner with all freight partners / operations to ensure best practice and deliver excellent service at best cost, negotiation of contract terms, SOP’s, and rates with carriers.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor all transport and logistics KPI’s.

  • Provide project and change management expertise to key strategic change projects by partnering with business management in the definition, planning and execution of specific change strategies.

  • Support the annual budgeting process, responsible for monthly performance to budget reporting and analysis.

  • Provide effective and regular communications on all stakeholders on Transport activity.

  • Manage the Day-to-Day operational activities associated with all Transportation networks including all route mapping requirements.

  • Proactively identify and analyse anomalies, reverse negative trends, and control costs to maximize productivity and deliver on operational, strategic, and financial expectations.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership that excels in establishing solid relationships focused on driving performance.

  • Provide technical, strategic, & operational know how in managing the flow of information, making recommendations, and providing resolution where applicable.

  • Demonstrates superior knowledge of transportation / 3PL industries including best practices & industry trends. Applies qualifications to positively affect operational competencies and efficiencies.

  • Enforce compliance of all company policies / procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations.


  • Two to three years’ experience in a similar role

  • Good knowledge of Transport mapping systems

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Project experience desirable but not essential

  • Third level logistics / supply chain qualification

  • Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
