
Due to continued growth within the business, a large Irish construction and engineering organisation, are seeking to appoint a Sustainability Manager to lead and develop their Sustainability agenda in Ireland. The role holder will report into the Head of Sustainability and will work closely with the wider business, supporting stakeholders across the network to fulfil the sustainability frameworks. The appointee will hold full knowledge on all relevant, upcoming and changing legislation with the Sustainability policies.
Holding a unique skill when engaging with other internal stakeholders, the role holder will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of the sustainability agenda with the overall objective of maximising the contribution to the environment and community. The appointee will be a key contributor in ensuring compliance a best in class sustainability program.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Company’s Head of Sustainability, the ideal candidate will be required to:
Lead the Company’s sustainability working group
Assist in creating and communicating a clear sustainability strategy aligned with the Company’s goals and the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
Follow the Company’s plans and enhance those plans where necessary for emissions reductions to reach net zero by 2050
Ensure appropriate systems for tracking and reporting scope 3 emissions
Identify and assess sustainability-related risks and opportunities
Identify areas for improving sustainability practices across the organisation
Prepare sustainability reports in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS)
Ensure compliance with the CSRD and other relevant legislation
Collect, analyse, and report on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics
Liaise with internal stakeholders including senior management and employees
Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the Company’s sustainability initiatives
Research and propose innovative technologies and practices to reduce environmental impact
Assist in developing strategies for adapting to future sustainability challenges
Assist in designing and coordinating sustainability training sessions for employees
Promote a culture of sustainability throughout the organisation
Serve as a point of contact for sustainability-related inquiries
Skills / Experience required for the role:
A qualification in sustainability, environmental science, or a related field
Strong understanding of CSRD, ESRS, and other relevant sustainability reporting frameworks
At least 3 years relevant experience within Sustainability
Excellent analytical and data management skills
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
An ability to translate complex sustainability concepts into actionable strategies
Experience in sustainability policy, process, and reporting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills
