A global electrical distribution organisation have retained Prism Executive to appoint a Wholesale Sales Director to lead and grow the wholesale sales function across the Irish business. The role holder will report directly into the Chief Executive Officer.

The appointee will play an active part on the Senior Management Team and will hold full strategic and operational responsibility for the sales team, maintaining a robust sales rhythm across the business.

The Wholesale Sales Director will be responsible for the management and growth of the wholesale sales channel, working in tandem with finance, operations, procurement and marketing. As an experienced Sales Director, the appointee will manage budgeting, and execution across all markets and industry sectors, identifying opportunities for future growth.

Some key deliverables will involve and are not limited to:

  • Own the development, implementation and execution of the wholesale sales plan to deliver on short and long term sales goals

  • Act as member of the leadership team and a key contributor in the strategic sales planning

  • Establish short and long term sales goals for all regions

  • Manage and lead independent sales force and distributors, including ongoing evaluation of existing sales teams

  • Manage sales representative incentive programs to maximize sales results and service standards

  • Cultivate relationships with decision makers and leadership at key accounts, direct accounts and international partners

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to establish key account seasonal sales and marketing plans to drive sales

  • Develop and manage internal and external reporting for wholesale business to maximize performance and provide data and insights to internal divisions and stakeholders on the sales performance

  • Work closely with purchasing department – Branch Managers to leverage feedback from buyers to identify growth opportunities for key items and categories

  • Partner with the marketing team to develop creative strategies to connect the brand, products and partnerships with target consumers across all markets


  • 10 or more years in sales and sales leadership roles

  • Understanding of the wholesale goods sector

  • Demonstrated success driving results through wholesale sales management

  • Team management experience

  • Proven track record in achieving B2B sales and exceeding all targets

  • Financial acumen and experience managing P+L

  • Excellent communication, relationship management and consensus building skills

  • Experience in a global organization preferred

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) required
