OPERATIONS MANAGER- CORK - FMCG




 

An international foodservice organistion are looking to appoint an Operations Manager to join their Cork business unit. Managing their distribution hub and cash & carry business. Reporting into the Regional Manager the role holder will also work closely with the wider group, supporting stakeholders across the network.


Holding a unique skill when engaging with other internal stakeholders the role holder will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of the Cork branch with the overall objective of maximising the profitability and contribution to the business unit. The Operations Manager will lead a team of supervisors, operatives, stock controllers and transport managers.


The appointee will be a key contributor in ensuring compliance and profitability are best in class in the Cork branch, delivering an effective management process across operational policies and procedures, employee relations and customer service standards.


Responsibilities:

  • To manage and exceed branch margin and profits and optimise sales within the branch

  • Ensure the effective execution of replenishment and stock management objectives/policies

  • Ensure marketing of the branch is in line with company policy in order to optimise sales and market share in the region

  • Branch stocks/budget reflect agreed sales ratio

  • Minimise overheads within the branch with a focus on out-of-date stock and wastage minimisation

  • Effectively manage debtors

  • Actively comply and promote company policies in relation to health & safety, security, medicinal products, and HACCP

  • Identify any action areas of stock loss and put preventative measures in place to remedy same

  • Ensure shelf edge labels are updated on a weekly basis

  • Ensure all stock in the value centre is controlled in line with organisational targets and all returns and out of date stock is actioned

  • Manage all aspects of stock take in line with organisational policy (including preparation for stock take and follow up action)

  • Comply with financial obligations when purchasing stock (e.g., Purchase Orders etc.)

  • Manage cash management process in accordance with company cash management policies and ensure that the appropriate security procedures in cash transactions are adhered to and all discrepancies are followed up and rectified.

  • Initiate and develop business through personal selling/service contact with key customers

  • Debtors and Sales Ledger Administration / system administration and reporting

  • Ensure security activities within the Cash & Carry are compliant with company security policy, including monthly checks and opening and closing of the branch

  • Ensure risks to employees or customers health and safety are reported and rectified appropriately

  • Communicate health & safety issues to staff

  • Recruiting, training and onboarding of all staff

  • Ensure all staff are trained to carry out their role including health & safety, HACCP and medicinal products handling ensuring all records are maintained

  • Ensure compliance with Human Resource policies

Experience:

  • Have experience of the wholesale / grocery / licensed trade

  • Have a strong strategic and operational focus, with formidable management and leadership skills

  • Be competent in managing existing accounts, and in the development and management of new accounts in line with company expectations, with the support of the sales team.

  • Experience at leading and mentoring customer service teams

  • Be a results-driven achiever, with exemplary planning and organisational skills.
