A large Irish retailer has retained Prism Executive to identify and appoint a Head of Finance and Brand Insights to join their Senior Leadership Team. The role holder will be responsible for two main streams – Finance and Brand Insights. The appointee will be a high performing individual and have a strong line into stakeholders within the business. They will be a key contributor to the overall business intelligence, commercial and operational direction of the business.
This person will report to the Group Finance Director and will play a key role managing the Finance and BI function to deliver key business insights and reporting, developing and maintaining a strong system of internal financial controls, and partnering with key commercial functions to deliver shareholder value add using insights and analytics to drive better decision making and maximizing commercial return.

Responsibilities:
Head of Finance
Manage the finance team to ensure it is appropriately structured, resourced, motivated, organised and developed to ensure reporting is timely, accurate and relevant and the team performs to its maximum potential.
Prepare Senior Team and Board reports on an ongoing basis commenting of monthly management accounts and business performance.
Focus the finance team on value add and business partnering to support other brand teams such as buying, marketing, digital and Talent & Engagement in all aspects of financial analysis and insight led decision making.
Build and maintain strong systems of internal financial controls and compliance to ensure accuracy in reporting and to protect the brands assets.
Actively participate in commercial discussions across all aspects of the business, taking responsibility for financial insights and analysis to drive better decision making to maximise shareholder return.
Support the negotiation, monitoring and ultimate collection of trade and commercial terms with brand partners.
Support evaluation, modelling, return calculation and decision making on all capital and marketing/digital investment, and assess ROI once delivered.
Support pricing, markdown and sell though management on goods for re-sale to maximise gross margins while adhering to sell through targets.
Co-ordination of finance team workload with team leads in commercial, operational and statutory roles.
Co-ordination of statutory audit, ongoing compliance relating to tax, company secretarial and CRO statutory reporting and filing requirements.
Manage treasury and cashflow including short and medium term cash flow forecasting balance with inventory intake management and forward order book commitments.
Brand Insights
Develop, and maintain data models dashboards, and performance metrics/KPI’s to present actionable business insights.
Examine, interpret, and draw meaningful insights from, and report results of analytical initiatives to, stakeholders in leadership, eCommerce, marketing, merchandising consumer, and product teams.
Promote and enable a self-service reporting culture.
Define company-wide metrics and relevant data sources and develop strategies for effective data analysis and reporting.
Collaborate with the wider teams to ensure that all data and actively contribute to both increases in sales and brand awareness.
Oversee analytics projects to extract, manage, and analyse customer data from multiple applications, ensuring that deadlines are met.
Establish best reporting system for website and e-commerce analytics. Ensuring the highest standard of accuracy & quality.
Setting and monitoring KPIs, while always performing as a growth mindset leader to ensure maximum output.
Apply statistics and data modelling to gain actionable business insights and boost productivity and revenue.
Use brand tracking tools for brand recall, share of voice and brand perception
Apply & maintain a strong awareness of external industry news and trends to interpret data and improve performance.
Personal Attributes:
Ability to interpret the business strategy into reporting and data requirements and produce insights to support the delivery of same.
Ability to communicate with Stakeholders at all levels within an organization and explain complex technical situations easily.

Technical Skills and Experience:
Qualified chartered or ACCA accountant with minimum 7 years PQE.
Business, IT or marketing degree with minimum 2.1 honours.
Track record of managing a finance team in an organisation/division with turnover in excess of €50m.
Strong commercial acumen with ability to lead business decision making using insights and analytics.
Experience in designing, building, and using dashboards and KPI’s to analyse business performance, highlight areas for improvement and opportunities for growth.
