Our global construction client are seeking to appoint a Commercial Manager to join their Irish entity and grow out their Residential, Commercial and Pharma business in Ireland. Reporting into the Commercial Director the role holder will also work closely with all sites across Ireland and Europe, supporting stakeholders across the entity.
Holding a unique skill when engaging with other internal stakeholders the role holder will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of all client projects with the overall objective of maximising the profitability and contribution to the business.
The Commercial Manager will work closely with other areas of the business from the proposal stage of projects through to project completion encapsulating the full project eco system. The appointee will be a key contributor in ensuring all projects are delivered, meeting project framework and timelines with first in class attention to detail upon presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible and accountable for achieving the commercial objectives and targets for all client projects specifically in the pharma and data centre sector.
Responsible for growing out teams and understanding the recruitment, training, and HR process
Process implementation to ensure all projects are meeting agreed guidelines and frameworks
Manage and support all Quantity Surveyors and head office departments, in order to achieve accurate control and reporting of commercial information.
Identify and manage the risks associated with each project.
Effectively liaise with Directors and Senior Managers in order to identify and report commercial information and risk.
Review the performance of team members and provide constructive feedback.
Manage internal relationships with the Project teams, to ensure the commercial and business objectives of each project are achieved.
Build and maintain excellent working relationships with clients providing them with accurate commercial information.
Co-ordinate Performance Enhancement Plans (PEPs) prior to the commencement of works.
Review the status of all projects (Construction and Commercial) on a monthly basis.
Responsible for all cash collection (mandatory weekly cash meetings with all Quantity Surveyors and Accounts personnel).
Qualifications and Skills
Relevant business degree in engineering and a qualification in project management.
Minimum 8 years’ experience in a similar role within the engineering and construction sector.
Experience in engineering or construction organisations
Strong budget management and project management expertise
Diverse portfolio of client and sector experience
Analysis and interpretation of commercial information.
Ability to forecast and plan commercial information.
Able to influence and gain the commitment of other people.
Ability to prioritise and allocate resources accordingly.
