
Due to rapid pace and growth within Group, Prism Executive have been retained by a Global Engineering/Construction client to appoint a Commercial Director to scale their Pharma/Lifesciences business. The role will be based in Ireland and will hold a seat at the senior leadership table.
Working with the MD and owners to develop and lead a strategy of growth within the Irish business, driving business to achieve the goals agreed. Managing the performance of Pharma/Lifesciences, as dictated by the overall strategy agreed by the MD and CEO. Maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the MD and EMT to ensure continued development of the Group and Business Unit.
Key Activities:
Validation of all tender and construction budgets to ensure strict compliance to agreed Margins
Provide advice to Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Administrators on administration aspects including site instructions, optimal labour allowances, accurate forecasting methods and the protection of margins.
Work closely with Procurement Department to manage the procurement process from inception to completion, ensuring the tender process is in accordance with company guidelines related to “Authority to let”, as well as sub-contractor agreements, and are within budget.
Full liaison with Business Unit Finance Department to ensure compliance with validated margins.
Participate, prepare and review contracts and tenders to achieve commercially advantageous outcomes for a construction project and mitigating risks.
Assessment and agreement of sub-contractor and supplier variations
Manage the preparation and submission of applications for interim payment certificates and agreement of same with Clients Representative
Manage insurance needs and settlements of construction projects that may, include public liability, professional indemnity and contract works.
Actively manage dispute resolution and/or claims should they arise in conjunction with the Commercial Manager / External Consultants
Review all incoming correspondence from Employers, Design Team and /or subcontractors, to identify contractually critical items and to initiate replies.
Experience & Skills:
Supervise the preparation and scrutiny of long-term cash forecasts, monitor results and interpret reasons for deviation.
Advise and guide on established techniques to minimise outflow of cash and maximise inflow.
Cash management and guides the management of cash to maximise benefit to the group.
Lead, monitor and guide at functional level the preparation of full quantification and cost data preparation for multiple complex projects accurately and swiftly
Able to interpret complex contractual clauses for bespoke clients.
Able to interpret complex project cost reports. Uses knowledge and experience to quickly and accurately correlate project data to business priorities and lead pursuit of project opportunities and defence against risks by foreseeing trends
Able to autonomously negotiate/resolve difficult final account claims with all parties
